So I finally got my light kit, No thanks to the USPS, and put the plane together. This is just a Taxi, but it shows off the lights which will also help me spot the plane should I be so unfortunate to have it fly through the sun, or loose it against some clouds.

The Light Kit is very nicely put together, the quality of the parts was exceptional. Fiddling the wires through the model was not easy, but then again, the model was not designed for them so I didn't expect much help from the model. The light were soldered onto some very stiff wires which helped, and hurt in case they got bent a little they stayed that way. I used the assistance of some small gauge wire that I would fish through the model from the opposite end, and then tape (scotch) it to the light making a cone at the end to assist in any hard edges catching the light. This worked very well, and I didn't break a single bulb. I used one of the lights that was white and a "constant" on to mimic the glow of the Hud / Instruments. it's a bit bright from the back, as the cockpit is almost completely black it sets the light off, maybe in the future I'll make some gauges. For now I just need to start getting it up in the air. |
